Steffani’s work has primarily been at the intersection of art and social justice with a focus on connecting BIPOC communities in the Deep South with culture bearers and artists working in civic practice towards building new and just futures. Prior to joining Common Future, Steffani managed the launch of the National Performance Networks regional regranting programs, including Southern Artists for Social Change in partnership with the Surdna Foundation’s “Radical Imagination for Racial Justice” initiative. In addition to her work as an arts administrator she has worked with organizations and individuals in building their organizational capacity through fiscal sponsorship, non-profit financial literacy, project design and strategy with a focus on building equitable and accessible systems. She lives in New Orleans and envisions a world where accountability and reconciliation are possible. And where commonality is found and solutions are sustainable for the benefit of all, with the needs of those who continue to sacrifice the most, being prioritized.
