Katrena is the Controller at Common Future, and plays a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity and strategic fiscal management, with an expertise in overseeing financial operations and optimizing the accounting cycle to drive organizational success.

Prior to her tenure at Common Future, Katrena worked as Finance Director at Morningside Center for Teaching Social Responsibility, Inc., a non-profit organization based in New York City. Morningside Center works hand in hand with educators to build students' social and emotional skills, strengthen the classroom and school community, and make schools more caring and equitable through restorative practices and brave conversations on race. There, she spearheaded fiscal management initiatives, crafted comprehensive budgets, and meticulously managed the accounting cycle, cementing herself as a trusted steward of financial resources.

Katrena's journey in finance commenced during her tenure as a Staff Accountant at a Bronx charter school, where her passion for numbers ignited. Her earlier experience as a teacher assistant in the education sector instilled in her a deep appreciation for the transformative power of education.

Katrena holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management with a concentration in Accounting. Outside of Common Future, Katrena enjoys being an active member of the community in Augusta, Georgia, her home since August 2022. When not working, she relishes trips to the beach, spending time with family and friends, reading a good book, and cuddling with her puppy, Grey.
