Impact

Justin De Souza is the Impact Initiatives Associate at Common Future. Justin facilitates program logistics and supports a variety of portfolio and advancement team initiatives. He is passionate about addressing systemic economic inequities faced by BIPOC communities and envisions a future where all communities have the resources and opportunities to thrive.

Justin is a first generation Trinidadian-American from Annapolis, Maryland. Before joining the Common Future team, Justin served as a Peace Corps volunteer with indigenous communities of Southern Belize. There, he co-designed and implemented community led programs to mitigate food insecurity and improve access to health services. He has also worked with the CDC Foundation and Johns Hopkins, optimizing data analysis procedures and facilitating stakeholder engagement.

Justin moved to Atlanta in 2020 to complete a Masters of Development Practice degree program at Emory University, with concentrations in Evaluation and Sustainability. The program used an interdisciplinary lens to analyze the root causes of inequities, and provided an in-depth understanding of restructuring power dynamics for equitable outcomes.In his free time Justin loves to cook, spend time with friends outdoors and explore Atlanta’s many music and art events.
