About William

William Generett Jr. is the Vice President for Community Engagement and Executive in Residence in the Business School at Duquesne University. He provides leadership in support of the University’s mission of service and its commitment to the city of Pittsburgh, Western Pennsylvania and the nation. Through the newly formed Office of Community Engagement, which he launched, he oversees the University’s government affairs function and its Center for Engaged-Teaching and Research. Bill has worked as a nonprofit executive, entrepreneur, consultant and attorney. He is a graduate of Emory Law School and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Morehouse College. He serves on several nonprofit boards including 1Worker1Vote, Pittsburgh Foundation, Center of Life, Carnegie Museum, Will Allen Foundation and the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority. In 2014, Bill was appointed by President Barack Obama to the National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Bill was awarded an honorary doctorate from Carlow University.
