Jamie is the Executive Director of the Institute for a Sustainable and the founder of Commons Health, a whole system place-based health and healing network. He is nationally recognized for his work at the intersection of health, community and environment. Jamie led the development and coordination of a successful national mercury elimination campaign and founded and directed the Healthy Food in Healthcare Initiative a nationwide collaboration of NGOs, clinicians and healthcare partners to transform healthcare food policy and practice. He serves on the board of the Psychedelic Research and Training Institute (PRATI), Karisha and the Duluth Whole Foods Coop. He has been honored with numerous awards including the Paul and Sheila Wellstone Public Health Lifetime Achievement Award. He enjoys cooking, theatre, sculpture and time in the natural world. Trained as a civil engineer, he was born near Montreal, Canada and currently resides in Duluth, MN.
